General Information

Known as the Summer Capital of the Philippines, Baguio City is truly one of the most visited place in the Philippines both by local and foreign tourists. It is located in Northern Luzon and being surrounded by the province of Benguet. Last year, according to the Department of tourism, over 2 million tourist visited the place by both local and foreign. Truly, Baguio city lives by its reputation to be the summer capital of the Philippines.

Climate

One big factor why local Filipinos visit Baguio city is because of its climate especially during summer. Since the Philippines is a tropical country, its not common to have a cold place like Baguio City. Its temperature ranges from about 13 - 23 degrees celsius. Compared to the usual lowland climates which ranges up to 30 degree celsius, Baguio is indeed a cold place. Having fog in the area is a common view should you visit in here.

People

Locals in Baguio City are all very friendly. Since filipinos are known to be hospitable, residents here are even more likely to be more friendlier than the usual filipinos. Since tourism is one of the source of income for many locals, they try to treat tourist with the best way they could possibly show.

Transportation

You can reach Baguio City either by Air of by Land. But I will recommend that you take the land route. Since its only around 250 kms from manila, you can reach Baguio City in just around 5-6 hours. There are lots of buses in manila going to Baguio city. Also lots of choices because you can choose aircondition buses with its own CR or ride the conventional ordinary buses. You don't have to worry about food and snacks because there are lots of terminals and stop overs along the way before you reach Baguio.

Travel tips/Recommendations

I would recommend travelling by day especially for first timers. You will appreciate the view even more on your way to the city. Try to take a single ride straight to Baguio City. Before you leave in Manila you may ask assistance to any law enforcers to verify your information. It is always wise to ask someone before you do something. After you reach your destination, be sure to first look for a place to stay like a hotel. After you have secured your valuable belongings, you can now visit all the beautiful places in Baguio without the fear of looking after your belongings.
